Heat-treated Large Steel Locking D was created to address the need for a very strong steel carabiner without adding unnecessary weight and size. Given the additional step of heat-treatment in order to provide an incredible 30% greater strength. With same specs as the SMC Large Locking D Carabiner platform, and certified to meet NFPA G' General Use standards, this is the hard working, nearly indestructible carabiner needed in every kit.

The sleeve locks on the gate rather than the body of the carabiner, eliminating problems of the knob binding on the frame after the carabiner has been loaded. Uses hybrid steel/stainless steel construction; incorporating stainless steel gate and locking sleeve for greater strength, smoother action and long-lasting reliability.
