12-Strand is an older construction for tree climbing rope. 16-strand, 24-strand, and Kernmantle rope have replaced 12-strand for professional climbers. Some 12-strand ropes are still popular, especially for recreational climbers. This rope construction has a 'nubby' feel thanks to the limited number of strands. It's easy to knot and very durable.

“I've been climbing since the 80s and for some reason never had the pleasure of running this line until today. This line is Very supple, maybe found my favorite. I'll see how it breaks in but I can't remember a line this easy to tie right out of the box. I use the old taut line hitch.”

“I use this line to climb on, I like the idea that its over 7000 lbs abs, makes me feel safe. Its very soft and works well with prusiks and Blackes hitch. The line doesnt seem to fluff as much as other lower cost lines Ive used in the past. It does have some stretch but its not much. I have been using this line everyday for 50 climbs. It holds up. Good strong rope.”
