**Reels of rope are charged a flat shipping fee in the continental US. Spools of rope up to 9/16" ship for $25 in areas covered by our free shipping offer. Spools of rope 5/8” and larger ship for $50 in these areas. Regular shipping rates apply in other areas.
Leave instructions for which splices go with which ropes in the 'comments' field during checkout, along with the sizes for any custom size eyes, and any instructions for thimbles, rope snaps, or other hardware to add to the splice. (Hardware must also be present in your cart to add it to the splice.)

Samson's Vortex climbing line is a lightweight, full 1/2 inch line with high-strength, low-stretch, while still coming in under the weight of a 16-strand. Vortex is a premium V-Series double-braid climbing line from Samson ropes, and takes advantage of all the latest innovations in rope manufacturing to produce a great climbing line with excellent hand, knotability, and strength. Vortex is truly impressive, in that it is lighter than a 16-strand or 12-strand climbing line, but has an incredible average strength of 8,000 lb, surpassing even our popular ArborMaster® rope as the strongest climbing line we sell! This will be the climbing line of choice for professionals.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released the ANSI Z133 safety requirements which apply to arboricultural operations.
Arborist Climbing Ropes are required to have a minimum breaking strength of 5,400 lb (24 kN) when new, and should be no smaller than 1/2” (12.7mm) unless the employee has been trained in the use of smaller line (down to 7/16” / 11mm), and the line's working elongation should not exceed 7% at 540 lb load.
Samson Vortex Hot rope meets ANSI Z133-2017 standards.

“I've been a drenaLINE fan for a long time but the Vortex by Samson is my new favorite line. Works great with my zigzag and chicane. Has a great hand, knots very well. My CT foot ascender works great with this rope, hasn't tried to pick the line at all. I like to run SRT mostly but like a lot of you out there, I will sometimes change to DdRT for large pruning jobs and this line is comfortable to get my hands around while pulling myself up or toward a limb. Super smooth, best rope I have ever bought and I have tried quite a few over the years. ”

“For several months now I have kept mum about the new 12.7mm climb line from Samson. I and a handful of other climbers across the country tested the prototypes of this line. What Samson has come out with is a quality 1/2" 24-strand climb line. It has great hand, knots well, redirects in the canopy, works great with ascenders, Ropewrench, and mechanical belay devices. Being a 1/2" rope with Nylon core this is a bit more weight, though still less than a 16-strand. This is a great climb line for those of us who climb in the rain - the extra diameter eases the strain on the hands when pulling. Vortex comes in a variegated blue-green and variegate orange-red color patterns. This is my new main work line.”
