11.8mm (15/32”) • 24-strand • 8,000 lb ABS • 3% elongation at 10% ABS • 6.5 lb per 100' • spliceable
Voyager SamsonDry incorporates the new SamsonDry technology into this midsize performance 24-strand. SamsonDry is a hydrophobic treatment that makes this rope shed water. If you work in the rain, you know how much rope can soak up water, getting heavier and more difficult to handle. SamsonDry cuts the water uptake dramatically, meaning your ropes behave more consistently regardless of the conditions. Samson Dry Technology coating reduces water absorption from 45% of original rope weight (without coating) to 2% with coating.
Voyager fits the sweet spot in the premium V-Series climbing lines from Samson. At 11.8mm, it is larger than Velocity and smaller than Vortex - perfect for the newest climbing devices. Great handling with hardware & prusiks.
Voyager is an 11.8mm 24-stand double braid climbing line, and the newest member of Samson's V-Series family of ropes. Situated between Velocity (11mm) and Vortex (12.7mm) in diameter, it was designed from the ground up to work with both existing mechanical systems and hardware as well as hardware that is currently being developed. With Velocity and Vortex both having widespread success in their respective diameter classes, Voyager now aims to fill the gap between them and future-proof Samson's climbing rope lineup. As with Velocity and Vortex, a nylon and polyester construction gives the rope low elongation with great abrasion resistance.
Voyager, like the rest of Samson's climbing and rigging lines, was also designed with splicing in mind. The line can be spliced using a class-1 double braid splicing technique, with an average spliced break strength of 8,000 lbs!”

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released the ANSI Z133 safety requirements which apply to arboricultural operations.
Arborist Climbing Ropes are required to have a minimum breaking strength of 5,400 lb (24 kN) when new, and should be no smaller than 1/2” (12.7mm) unless the employee has been trained in the use of smaller line (down to 7/16” / 11mm), and the line's working elongation should not exceed 7% at 540 lb load.
Samson Voyager rope meets ANSI Z133-2017 standards, so long as the user has been trained in the use of smaller diameter lines.
The full ANSI Z133 safety requirements are available on our tree care standards page.

“Bought this for use with my Zigzag to mostly work DRT for trimming but find myself using this SRT/DRT (chicane with SRT) for trimming and removals. Soft. great hand, knots very well and runs through my zigzag.....in fact perfect. I'm a heavier then average climber at 220 LBS and my zigzag works well with it, nice and steady not too fast and also a hitch climber with ocean prusik. The splice from Iron Street Splicing is incredible and so clean. I love my drenaLINE but I tend to use this line more now. ”

“This is my favorite rope diameter. Not too big or small. I also like the tighter weave than vortex. I will be purchasing more of this rope.”

“I'm using this line with a Petzl Zigzag. It works flawlessly. Voyager rope is the most supple rope I can ever remember handling in the last 30 years of climbing. It is easy to tie. The only thing I would like is different colors. I think this color tends to dissaper in the canopy.”

“Great feel, works great with the Petzl Zig Zag and has great grip when you need to climb back up.”

“I really liked the new voyager rope. Extremely light weight and very easy to work with, knots well and runs through hitches and devices well, and a good visible color scheme in the tree. So far, I am likeling better than the other ropes that I've used and would recommend it and buy it again.”

“A winner. First job out of the box on a single rope Hitch Hiker/8mm UltraTech, 2 CMI Expedition hand ascenders and a CMI foot ascender: everything performed perfectly. The rope has an excellent limited stretch and stayed firm and round through the equipment. It is brighter than Velocity Cool and visibility is very good. Good hand. Good knots. Honestly, it is just a bit coarser than the other V-series lines: it doesn't quite have that silky sexy smooth feel of Velocity but the larger diameter is easier to handle. The 11.8mm size is good.
“Good rope. Kudos to Iron Street. Nice work. ”
