Blaze has become one of our most popular light-weight arborist lines. Blaze is in Yale Cordage's XTC 24 line. It is a 24-strand, 11mm (7/16”), spliceable double-braid that is very easy to see in the tree and handles great. Excellent for long climbs where the weight of your line really matters. Blaze rope works equally well with friction hitches and mechanical climbing devices.

This great article at Yale Rope's website explains the how the ability of a rope to absorb impact is affected by the elasticity of the rope. Breaking strength is not the only important factor in determining if a rope is right for the job. Dynamic Energy in Arborist Ropes
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released the ANSI Z133 safety requirements which apply to arboricultural operations.
Arborist Climbing Ropes are required to have a minimum breaking strength of 5,400 lb (24 kN) when new, and should be no smaller than 1/2” (12.7mm) unless the employee has been trained in the use of smaller line (down to 7/16” / 11mm), and the line's working elongation should not exceed 7% at 540 lb load.
Yale Blaze rope meets ANSI Z133-2017 standards.
The full ANSI Z133 safety requirements are available on our tree care standards page.
Rated: Excellent Review by: Shane
“Blaze climbing line is a great, highly visible, 7/16", lightweight, and affordable climbing line. The price for quality is unmatchable. The almost weightlessness compared to other ropes make Blaze a great line for long climbs, or when packing gear a long distance before a climb is required. Holds up great to use; after a few months of almost everyday use, I have barely noticed any signs of wear. The only con I have found is how much potential for milking it has, which is to be expected from any double-braid rope, and can easily be milked back by switching ends every use.”
