A rope Lanyard can be used where wire-core Lanyards cant, is lighter weight, and is available from a wide range of ropes. Rope lanyard kits are available with either prusik and carabiner or adjuster and carabiner.
Many climbers are discovering the benefits of carrying an extra-long lanyard with them as they ascend. The length of the lanyard lets it be used like a second climbing line, and can be switched to when the main climbing line needs to be advanced. The extra length in a positioning lanyard opens up possibilities for working the canopy, and when you don't need the full length, store the excess in the lanyard pouch or Climb Bucket.

The Adjustable Zillon lanyard is built for arborist work positioning. The Zillon adjuster incorporates a series of folding stainless-steel links which hold the position on the lanyard and are easy to adjust with one hand. An integrated pulley on sealed ball-bearings makes one-handed slack tending easy.

“Ordered this a week ago--another one I've had for 25 years with a steel cable inside was getting wore out. This is abrasion resistant but has no steel cable in it, so safer to use around wires. I bought also the Sterling 5/16" prusik cord, 30" eye to eye, to use with it, which not only has the same color, but also was a perfect size to grab hold of it as I would slide it out walking out on a limb, as I did a few days ago on a large mulberry tree trim. I used a Valdotain Tresse knot (see pg. 85 of The Tree Climber's Companion) and did tie it with one extra braid as suggested there, to get a nice tight knot, yet still able to slide. Both these ropes worked terrific as an added line to position myself around wires and in a big tree, and I am very happy with it.”

“Love this lanyard! I got the longer length and use as a second climbing line when needed. The TriTech gives me a little piece of mind with its cut resistance when using my silky around it. I really love the rope snap on this. It is an in between of the stiffness of a wire core and regular rope lanyard. I put a eye to eye with a pulley and it works amazingly. I like a distel as it is a bit more compact and I am not looking for speed.”

Super-durable Lanyard made from Yale's R.I.N.G. (Red is No-Go) rope. The modified Technora over-braid maximizes cut and abrasion resistance. These Lanyards have added ease of inspection thanks to the red core in R.I.N.G. rope. If you see red, you know the rope jacket has been compromised.
