Kernmantle Climbing Ropes
Stationary Rope System (SRS) used to be called Single Rope Technique (SRT). In SRS, the climber anchors the rope either in the canopy or at the base of the tree, and the rope does not move. (Contrast with a Moving Rope System (MRS). Good ropes for MRS are 24-strand or 16-strand climbing ropes.)
SRS uses mechanical ascenders sometimes with toothed-cams. This is hard on ropes, so Kernmantles are popular. These have a load-bearing core and a tight jacket to protect it from wear. A good SRS line will have minimal stretch or elongation - very important on long ascents.
We have selected these top ropes for your SRS climbing setup.
