The Vortex AFS is an easy-to-use new wave friction saver that can be used in the same method as the Pulleysaver, but is easier to retrieve and use. The Vortex AFS is sewn from Samson Vortex rope and is available with either a Pinto Rig pulley or DMM ring on a moveable prusik to provide adjustment in the length of the friction saver.
The Vortex AFS works similarly to the Teufelberger Pulleysaver, with the large low-friction ring making it easier to retrieve, as it can't collapse and bind in the tree. You can see a demonstration of the Pulleysaver (the same basic principles apply to the Vortex AFS) under the "Video" tab below.

Rated: Disappointing Review by: Jonathan
“ I really liked the idea of this item but have been dissapointed with its functionality in actual working situations due to being unable to remotely retrieve it. Twice, I have had to reclimb a tree to retrieve the friction saver because the pulley did not slide through the ring like advertised. Also, the retrieval ball that comes with the kit pulled through the small metal ring when I put tension on the line. I belive this product is a nice idea but is over complicated in nature and extremely finicky. More trouble than it is worth. ”
